Gabriele Boggio Ferraris

A B O U T
Gabriele Boggio Ferraris was born in Milan in 1984. He began studying music at the age of 9, when he discovered is love for drums and rock music.
He spent is formative years tryng to emulate his musical heroes, in particular drummers Dave Grohl and Matt Cameron.
He discovered jazz music at the age of 19, while he was attending Percussion Academy at the conservatory of Piacenza.
During this period he felt in love with the vibraphone, esploring jazz armony as a self-taught musician.
After graduation, he moved to Milano to get the chance of taking lessons with the great Italian Vibraphone master, Andrea Dulbecco.
He released his first album “Say the Truth” (Dodicilune ed.Musicali) in 2010, leading a quartet with one of the most rated rhytmic session in Italy, Stefano Bagnoli on drums and Riccardo Fioravanti.
With this band (with Mirko Mignone on piano) he toured Italy and performed in some of the most rated venues for jazz music of the country.
The second quartet featured drummer Alessandro Rossi on drums, Giacomo Tagliavia on bass and Carlo Gravina on alto saxophone.
With this band on may 2015 he relased “Penguin VIllage” : this album is also the first published for his own label UR Records, funded in collaborations with pianist Jacopo Mazza.
"Penguin Village" has received stunning reviews from several Jazz Magazines. He has performed in several of the most important venues and festival in Italy like Eddie Lang Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz Festival, AreaM, Blue Note Milano and many more.
His Album "Django's Roots" has been awarded among the best italian record in 2013 for JAZZIT Magazine.
In 2015 He has funded a brand new record label called UR Records to produce his own music but also to help musicians to have their own space in music industry : he has released several albums both as a producer and bandleader, collaborating with International jazz artists like Chris Speed, Marc Ribot, Bob Moses, Rob Luft, Misha Mullov-Abbado and many others.
He has been nominated 7 times in a row among the most appreciated Vibraphone player in Italy, according to the JAZZIT Awards.
With his quartet he won the New Generation Jazz Award in 2018, gaining the chance to play at Toronto Jazz Festival in 2019, rappresenting Italy as a jazz musician.
He has played and and shared the stage with artists like : Dave Douglas, Steven Bernstein, Hindi Zara, Ludovic Beier, Roy Paci, Daniele Di Gregorio, Andrea Dulbecco, Daniele di Bonaventura, Stochelo Rosenberg, Jorge Bosso and many more.
